Out of the Box Festival – Cultural Centre Southbank

QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival for children under 8 at Southbank in Brisbane is about to start (8-14 June) and this year the program of events for children once again looks fantastic!

This year the festival is celebrating its 10th birthday, and it is sure to ’ inspire, educate and entertain school children, their families and teachers’. In 2008 more than 50,000 people attended the festival and the program for 2010 does not look like it will disappoint.

The program includes:

  • Amococo – a walk-through inflatable sculpture filled with radiant light and vivid colour
  • Pirates – The Flying Fruit Fly Circus of 10-17 year old acrobats
  • The Composer is Dead – a hysterical performance by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra
  • Mr McGee and the Biting Flea - A Patch Theatre Production celebrating the power of imagination
  • Grug – A theatre performance about the hugely popular Grug
  • Tea and Music – invite your parents and grandparents to a tea party at the State Library
  • Flight Deck Workshop -  children can build, decorate and fly their own kite
  • Sticks – learn about balance and build a Japanese inspired bamboo pyramid
  • Flourpot – find out which plants from the garden are good to eat
  • Plus loads more!

In between performances and workshops there is also loads of free stuff to do during Out of the Box.
