Over the next couple of weeks we will be doing a few posts all about Easter. There is so much fun you can have with kids at Easter from making their Easter Bonnets to cooking up Easter treats, Easter Egg hunts and more. We’ll be sharing with you a few of our favourite things we do this time of year.
The first thing we need to do though is make Easter Bonnets for the Easter Bonnet Parade at Bens school and Brookes kindy. I am an extremely uncreative person so I tend to look for easy ways to create the Easter Bonnet your child will love to wear, and also one where they can help put it together.
This year I have found white plastic hats for my base (you can get these at Spotlight or art/craft places). I am going to cut two slits into the top of the hat and feed through a pair of bunny ears that sit on a headband (I got these at Spotlight, but have also seen them in Kmart and Big W).
Now the base is done, its time to decorate!
I have bought some little chickens, plastic sparkly easter eggs and a bunch of white and yellow fake flowers. (I got all of these from Spotlight) I am going to get the kids to help me position and glue these things on top of the hat. You could also use real easter eggs but I am wary of the heat in Qld, and they may melt during the parade!
You could also decorate your own Easter Eggs for the bonnet. We normally prick a hole in each end of an egg, then blow the egg out. You can then either get an egg decorating pack where you simply stick the pictures on, or better still get the kids to paint them/colour them in, then add them to the top of your bonnet!
You can add anything you like to your childs easter bonnet, it is so much fun making it together and your child will love wearing their creation!
I will post some pics of the kids Easter Bonnets when ready!
Happy making!
